Smokey's Pit Stop and Saloon
1346 N. Lee Trevino Dr.El Paso, TX
(915) 593-6332
Smokey's is one of the most popular "cue" places in El Paso, probably because of the large smoker
where all the meats are cooked with mesquite wood. I was informed that the brisket cooks overnight,
while all other meats, including the ribs, take one to two hours. Based on this alone I would say Brisket
is the item to order here.
However, wanting to eat something more healthy, Turkey has been my choice on recent visits to
barbecue restaurants. Although it is definitely "good stuff," I will have to say I was not as impressed as at Cagle's
in Lubbock or the State Line in El Paso, where I ordered the same thing.
This restaurant may have great brisket, but I don't think turkey is their best offering (actually it is mostly a
take-out place, but there are a limited number of tables to eat in).
